Hello, my name is Jimena De Arcos! I’m a freshman at the University of Nevada Reno currently on the Pre-Business track with an interest in International Business and a minor in Political Science. I currently am a shift lead at Rare Tea which has taught me the value of balance and hard work. My education has always been very important to me; I am a first gen student which encourages me to work even harder in school not only for myself but for my family.
When I was in High School, I was a part of the McQueen High School Eclectic Orchestra for four years and I have been playing the violin for over seven years now. I love traveling and I have been to five different countries which has opened my interest for studying International Business. When I was in High School, I went on a fieldtrip to the Nevada Legislature and as a result has interested me with studying Politics.
Growing up my dad always loved watching the Spain National Soccer Team and FC Barcelona and it has always been a dream of my parents to visit Spain. I am hoping that in my Junior year I am able to study abroad in Spain for a semester. Especially after spending a week by myself in Europe for a school fieldtrip. That trip made me love traveling and it made me realize that there is so much history and culture in this world. I couldn’t believe that we all live under the same sun and moon as 100 years ago.
Outside of work and school I really enjoy going to the gym or drawing on my free time. I am so blessed to having such an amazing family and group of friends who push me to succeed. I love going anywhere with my friends and I am always up for trying something new.
I’m very excited for these next four years at UNR, I am looking forward to these new experiences, education and meeting new people. This will guide me toward becoming better equipped for the future.
